Labour has now outlined last week in Scotland the Great British Energy [GB Energy] concept It will be a publicly owned company based on green energy, which the Conservatives have ignored since 2015 when David Cameron banned onshore wind and stopped supporting Solar. A website has started with a logo.
Plans were publicised last year, during September, with ambitions to save £93 bn for consumers, while aiming for 100% clean power by 2030. Keir Starmer has dismissed the idea that this would cause job losses. He realises that fossil fuels will be around for “decades to come”, but new green jobs will be growing meanwhile, aiming for millions.
The company will be based in Scotland. It will not produce energy; but, it will invest in renewable energy eg wind and solar. which have been neglected by Conservative government for the last 10 years of poor vision. New technologies including hydrogen will be there too. Hydrogen is vital for energy storage and cheap distribution which the Grid has failed to support over nearly a century.
