On Tuesday 7 Feb 2023, the UK Government moved hydrogen policy to the new Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNeZ), with Grant Shapps the new Minister. Soon the new Energy Bill will be passed for hydrogen sectors plus the Carbon Capture and Storage sop to the big fossil fuel companies. But delays might be expected because of the energy cost crisis which will certainly affect the General Election results next year. Hydrogen is not a priority, it seems, and that will push Britain behind EU, USA and others. Even Scotland is way ahead of Westminster. Since only 2 (yes two) onshore wind turbines were installed under the conservatives in 2022, it looks like UK green hydrogen is doomed.
