The Tees Mayor, Ben Houchen who strongly supported the temporary hydrogen station at Stockton-on-Tees bus depot in 2021, followed by the bigger Tees Airport station now being implemented, is appointed Lord Houchen. In his maiden speech last week in the House of Lords he said “Teesside is already home to more than 50% of all the hydrogen production in the UK,” but he forgot to say that this hydrogen is 100% fossil that needs to be stopped ASAP. Instead, why not use the plentiful local off-shore wind to feed green hydrogen to Teesside in massive quantities? That would be worth bragging about and would also be economic.
