The two announcements from Westminster are depressing: First we have the new licences for fossil fuel exploitation; second is the ludicrous carbon capture/storage (CCS) Acorn project geared to subsidise BP and other rapacious companies. Lord Deben was on TV to say that these are pointless. First because it will take 10 years for any change in our energy security by oil exploration, second because CCS will deliver hydrogen which is more expensive than fossil gasoline, whereas solar/wind will deliver green hydrogen much cheaper right now. Why does the government not install ten times more solar than now, plus ten times more cheap onshore wind as I suggested earlier to power homes and vehicle filling stations with local green electricity plus /hydrogen?
