Announced on 8 June 2023, investments about £200M from Meld Energy are planned to build 100MW of green hydrogen manufacture in Hull at Saltend industry park run by px Group, to be complete in 4 years. It is not clear where the green electricity is coming from, but Hull is ideally located for offshore wind energy. This project will be comparable to the 200MW Trafford proposed facility from Carlton Power but is much smaller than the Statera 3GW plant intended for Scotland. Support from UK net zero green hydrogen fund is not yet approved. If successfully constructed, Saltend could then double its green hydrogen output to 200MW by 2029.
