The new Government published its Green Paper last week and it is very interesting. It is titled 'INVEST 2035: The UK's Modern Industrial Strategy', 58 pages long with good new ideas coming forward, and a ten year plan for growth. The document is attached and is well worth a read. It is asking for your opinions but there is not a path to send your ideas. You would think an email address would help to get your thoughts across. By spring 2025, the consulting time will be over and the final strategy produced. It is signed by Rachel Reeves and Jonathan Reynolds but their contact data are not included. I have tried to contact them but there has not been any reply. For example I wanted to know why the small number of hydrogen vehicles in UK will be taxed like diesel vehicles next April. This seems to be a legacy from Rishi Sunak which should immediately be chopped by the new Government. If they want to get rid of combustion vehicles there must be incentives as in Norway and China, countries that really are heading for zero emissions in transport, our major emissions sector, still increasing in Britain, with only about 3% ZEV penetration. Why tax the very small number of hydrogen vehicles that can move UK forward??
