UK renewable electricity generation rose by 19% on the same period last year to account for 51.6% of total electricity generation, rising steadily over the last 3 quarters. Meanwhile, natural gas production dropped by 18% and petroleum production by 9%, marking a record low. Fossil fuels’ share of the electricity mix was just 26.6%. Coal production dropped further. The UK generation of electricity was down but the main point was that gas power stations generation dropped by 37% to a record 16TWh. Wind power at 17TWh was higher than gas which is a good sign.
